SwampDogs Give $1000 Scholarship

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.- The Fayetteville SwampDogs partnered with Lumbee River EMC and South River EMC to host the seventh annual Sandhills High School Senior Showcase at J.P. Riddle Stadium on Monday, June 16.

The teams consisted of 21 high school seniors from around the Fayetteville area, who were nominated by their coaches for an outstanding senior year. Team Lumbee River defeated Team South River 9-2.

Davis Cass of Cape Fear High School was named the MVP of the game with a three RBI effort. As MVP, Cass was awarded the $1000 Grainger Raymond Barrett Memorial Scholarship. Barrett was the Cumberland County Attoney and a strong supporter of the community, avid baseball fan, and excellent writer.

Cass will be attending Methodist University in Fayetteville, N.C. in the fall.
