Fayetteville SwampDogs News Release
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - After winning four straight games, the SwampDogs had pulled within a half game of the lead in the East Division and looked to carry that momentum into Saturday's matchup with the first-place Morehead City Marlins.
Fayetteville couldn't stay red-hot forever, though. Despite the SwampDogs' best efforts, this week's hot stretch hit a snag against Morehead City, as the Marlins' pitchers and the elements combined to hand Fayetteville a 3-0 loss in five innings.
Although the SwampDogs did not push a run across in the five innings of play, they got a good performance from third baseman Trent Franson. Franson (Houston Baptist) reached base safely twice in three trips to the plate, recording a single and a walk.
On the mound, Kyle Klotz (Belmont) turned in an excellent relief appearance for Fayetteville. The right-hander tossed two and a third shutout innings while striking out two and walking none.
The SwampDogs are on the road for three straight days and return to The Swamp Wednesday night to face the Savannah Bananas.
