SwampBats Lose Fifth Straight to Muskrats

LACONIA, N.H.- The Keene SwampBats fell to 3-7 on the year with a 10-4 loss to the Winnipesaukee Muskrats. The 'Bats took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Muskrats pitcher Mark Levesque balked, scoring Erick Delgado from third base. In the bottom of the second inning, a throwing error to first base by Buddy Dewaine allowed two runs to score, giving the Muskrats a 2-1 lead.

Steven Passatempo then singled to score making the score 3-1 in favor of the Muskrats. Keene got a run back in the top of the fourth inning on a groundout from Cordell Dunn Jr. that scored Alex Carballo, cutting the score to 3-2. Winnipesaukee scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI single by Brian Kelly and a grand slam by Reagan Teegarden, increasing the lead to 8-2. In the bottom of the seventh, the Muskrats added two runs on a homerun by Passatempo.

Keene scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning, one on a sacrifice fly by Alex Griffith, scoring Michael Woodworth, who singled to begin the inning. The final Bats run scored on a throwing error by Evan Vulgamore, scoring Brandon Smith making the final score 10-4. Joe Breaux was the only man that reached base in the top of the ninth for the SwampBats. However, two flyouts and a strikeout ended the game. Jake McLinskey (Kennesaw State) gave up two earned runs on three hits in five full innings in a strong second start as a SwampBat.

The SwampBats next game is back in Winnipesaukee Monday, June 18th. First pitch is at 6:05 p.m., and you can catch it on FM 104.1 AM 1220 Fox Sports Keene. Keene returns home on to Alumni Field on Wednesday against the Vermont Mountaineers, and that game starts at 6:30. The sponsor for that game is the Greater Keene Rotaract Club.
