Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release

Greenville, SC - The Greenville Swamp Rabbits (17-13-5), proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, opened a three-game series against the Florida Everblades (24-11-0) on Thursday with a 2-1 setback at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena. Florida's Kevin Lynch scored the go-ahead goal at 9:02 of the third period, while Darian Dziurzynski registered his seventh tally of the season for the Swamp Rabbits.

The loss snapped Greenville's season-long eight-game point streak dating back to December 12 and dropped the club to 9-6-4 on SANDLAPPER Securities Rink.

The Everblades struck first when Matt Willows netted his 13th tally of the season at the 17:10 mark of the opening period. Corey Syvret began the attack when he captured the puck near the penalty boxes and sent a rink-wide feed to Ryan Martindale, who skated to the slot. There, Martindale fired a shot that was blocked by Greenville's defense, but the second chance ricocheted to the bottom of the left circle where Willows slipped it under Mackenzie Skapski for a 1-0 lead.

Following a scoreless middle frame, Darian Dziurzynski evened the game at 3:47 of the third period. From the left corner of Florida's zone, Dziurzynski collected the puck and walked to the edge of the trapezoid, where he banked in a shot off the left leg pad of Blades' goaltender Anthony Peters. Tyler Elbrecht and Bretton Cameron each earned an assist, giving the latter a six-game point streak at home dating back to December 10.

Florida responded less than six minutes later and grabbed the lead for good on Kevin Lynch's seventh goal of the season. Evan Bloodoff created the threat with a backhand wraparound chance that was blocked by Skapski, but the rebound caromed to the hash marks where Lynch knocked it home for the 2-1 final.

Skapski (1-3-1) made an ECHL career-high 39 saves in the loss, while Peters (12-8-0) halted 21 shots in Florida's win. In addition, the Swamp Rabbits went 0-for-1 on the power play, but a perfect 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.

Florida outshot Greenville 41-22.
