INDIANAPOLIS - The Indy Fuel announced today that the team has acquired the rights to defenseman Nick Petrecki from the Elmira Jackals for future considerations.
The 26-year-old Petrecki has split time between Elmira and the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League this season. In 14 games with the Jackals he has six assists and a +11 rating while also appearing in three games with the Amerks with 10 minutes in penalties.
Originally a first-round selection by the San Jose Sharks (#28 overall) in 2007, the Clifton Park, NY native appeared in one NHL game for the Sharks in 2012-13.
Petrecki is the 2011-12 winner of the Yanick Dupre Memorial Award, given annually to the AHL Man of the Year for his dedicated service to the local community. He was also selected the 2010-11 Man of the Year for the AHL's Worcester Sharks.
The Fuel also received defenseman Nick Mattson back from the Rockford IceHogs today. The 24-year-old rookie defenseman returns from his first career AHL recall having played in three games with no points or PIMs. This year in 29 games with the Fuel Mattson has six assists.
The Fuel return to action this Friday and Saturday night hosting the Evansville IceMen at 7:35 pm at Indiana Farmers Coliseum. Radio coverage begins with the Morellis Cleaners pregame show 15 minutes prior to puck drop on CBS Sports 1430 AM.
Single-game tickets are now on sale at Ticketmaster or at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum box office, while a variety of different ticket plans and group specials are available by calling (317) 925-FUEL or visiting IndyFuelHockey.com.
