
Swamp Foxes Win Thriller, 45-42 Over Firecats

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC â Offensive specialist Terrance Quattlebaum hauled in an 8-yard touchdown strike with 19.5 seconds remaining in regulation and the top-ranked defense in af2 did the rest as the Charleston Swamp Foxes defeated the Florida Firecats 45-42.
The win, Charleston's third consecutive and first over the Firecats in two seasons, also boosted the Foxes back to the .500 mark at 3-3.
With 1:14 remaining in regulation, Charleston scored on a Marlon Moye-Moore 2-yard TD romp, putting the Swamp Foxes up 38-35 after the two-point conversion pass to Leroy McFadden. On the ensuing kickoff, Florida's Magic Benton took it back 56 yards for the go-ahead score, 42-38.
The Swamp Foxes' proceeded to drive 37 yards in eight plays consuming 42 seconds off the game clock, culminating with the Quattlebaum score.
Charleston was led by Offensive Player of the Game, Leroy McFadden with two rushing TD's and one, two-point conversion. He finished with 39 yards receiving on five catches and rushed three times for six yards. Quattlebaum equaled McFadden's catches with five for 34 yards and a pair of receiving TDs
For the first time this season, the Firecats, who entered the night leading the af2 in turnover margin, were beaten in turnovers. The Swamp Foxes, led by ADT Defensive Player of the Game Demont Smith, intercepted two passes and recovered a pair of fumbles.
Michael Brown led the way in tackles, tallying seven, including six solo stops. He also intercepted his third pass of the year. Brown also caught a 12-yard pass on a third and 10 situation on the final scoring drive.
Charleston concludes its two-game home stand next Saturday night at 7:30 pm as they host the Cape Fear Wildcats. It's Military Appreciation Night with all upper bowl tickets selling for $6.00 with military ID. For more information, call (843) 554-4321.
