Swamp Bats lose 2-0 to Muskrats in a Pitchers' Duel

July 25, 2015 - New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL)
Keene Swamp Bats News Release

The Swamp Bats lost 2-0 to the second place Laconia Muskrats to extend their losing streak to three and would fall to 9-27 on the season.

Zach Willeman would get his second start for the Swamp Bats this summer and it would be a good one, as it became a pitchers duel between Willeman and Brandyn Sittinger.

Willeman would pitch six quality innings allowing four hits and no earned runs. The NECBL all-star would strike out four batters. Connor Sahlin would come in for relief and pitch 2.1 innings.

No teams would score through 8 innings until Tyler McVicar would come in with two runners on base and would get an RBI single and an error from centerfielder Matt Burns, to clear the bases and the Muskrats would be up 2-0.

The Swamp Bats would get nine hits on the day but could not take advantage with runners on base. Ryan Karl would be back in the lineup and would hit 2-for-4 and Matt Burns would have two hits of his own.

Connor Foreman would extend his hit streak to four going 1-for-4 after hitting a three run home run last night including four RBIs.

Keene has six games left on the season and will finish with a losing record at home for the first time in the 18 year history of the Swamp Bats. Keene will host Sanford Sunday night.
