Keene Swamp Bats News Release

The Keene Swamp Bats fell by a score of 6-4 Tuesday night, when it traveled to Plymouth for the only time this season.

Keene was holding a two run lead heading into the seventh inning before the Pilgrims lineup unloaded five runs to take the lead and they didn't look back from there.

Plymouth started the scoring early on a solo homerun by Brent Rooker in the bottom of the first inning, as he took a fastball from Keene starter Kade McClure deep to left field.

The Swamp Bats would answer scoring two runs in the top of the fifth to take a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the fifth inning.

Keene scored again in the top of the sixth inning on a triple by Larry Crisler that was followed by an RBI single by Connor Foreman to give Keene a 3-1 lead after six.

The seventh inning brought trouble for Keene, as a solo homerun by Joe Freiday was just the beginning of a huge inning for Plymouth. With two outs the Pilgrims would have seven batters in a row reach base and plate four more runs to take a 6-3 lead after seven.

McClure would be charged one earned run on the night, while Brian Hobbie and Daniel Nations would both be charged two earned runs against the Swamp Bats.

Keene was able to get a run back in the eighth but could not complete the comeback and would fall to 8-19 on the season and lose the season series 0-2 to the Pilgrims.

Keene is back in action Wednesday night at home against the Valley Blue Sox with first pitch at 6:30 at Alumni Field.
