Swamp Bats Defeat Brigade 3-2 In 10 Innings

July 4, 2013 - New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL)
Keene Swamp Bats News Release

Dylan Moore drove in the winning run in the tenth inning to give the Swamp Bats the victory over Western Division rivals Saratoga.

Wales Toney made his second start of the season, and did well enough to keep his team in the game. Toney, out of Clemson University, went four and a third inning, giving up two runs on five hits and four walks.

Keene scored early, but not often, striking in the first and second. JP Sportman drove in Dylan Moore with a single in the first. The junior out of Central Connecticut University came into the game leading the NECBL in hitting with a .411 average, and had another nice game going 2-4.

Moore drove in the second run of the game on an RBI single in the second.

Saratoga got the runs back off of Toney in the third and the fifth, and the score remained that way until the tenth inning.

Keene got three straight singles from Zach Lauricella, Robbie Cafiero, and Dylan Moore to grab a 3-2 lead.

James Connell came on in the ninth, and after picking up the win on Wednesday night, got the save in the bottom of the tenth on Thursday night.

The win is Keene's second straight which moves the team's record to 5-11. The Swamp Bats will be back home at Alumni Field on Friday night to take on the Holyoke Blue Sox. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m.
