Swamp Bat Star Conley Makes MLB Debut
June 10, 2015 - New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) News Release
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Lefty and former Keene Swamp Bat star AdamConley made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut tonight for the Miami Marlins. Conley tossed a scoreless inning in the Marlins' 7-2 setback at Toronto.
Conley becomes the 116th graduate of the NECBL to reach the Majors and the 47th to play in the Big Leagues this year. He is the fifth New England League alumnus to make his debut in 2015.
Conley, a Marlins' second round draft choice out of Washington State, assembled arguably the finest pitching summer in NECBL history for Keene in 2009. He did not allow a single earned run in 34 innings. Conley surrendered just 14 hits all summer while striking out 37. He went 2-0 with a save.
The Swamp Bat worked his way up the Minor League ranks, earning ClassA South Atlantic League All-Star honors with Greensboro in 2012 and DoubleA Southern League All-Star honors with Jacksonville in 2013. At the time of his call-up, Conley had made 11 starts for Triple-A New Orleans, where he posted a 2.86 ERA.
The NECBL congratulates Adam on this accomplishment.
