OKLAHOMA CITY-The Oklahoma Warriors used a three-goal second period to take down the Amarillo Wranglers 5-2 at Blazers Ice Centre on Saturday.

Drew Sutton scored his 10th and 11th goals of the season. Cooper Boulanger contributed to all three second period goals, tallying a goal and two assists. Nathan Rickey chipped in with two assists from the blue line.

In his first home game of the 2023-24 season, goaltender Dylan Johnson played a stellar game. The 18-year-old from Dallas, Texas stopped 24 of 26 Wranglers shots.

With the game tied 1-1 and momentum briefly slipping away from Oklahoma, Warriors' captain Max Dronen fought Amarillo's Connor McNaughton. Dronen won the bout and his team scored thrice while their captain served his 15 penalty minutes.

The victory snaps a three-game losing streak and puts Oklahoma on the board in the Austin Hose Hoser Cup rivalry series. The previous three losses had come with game-winning goals against in either the final minute of regulation or in overtime.

The Warriors conclude a five-game series against Amarillo with a Sunday night matchup in Oklahoma City. A regulation win would clinch a share of six standings points each from the two-week-long battle. Puck drop is 7:15 p.m. from Blazers Ice Centre.
