New Jersey Jackals News Release
Game three of the Battle of New Jersey was a close matchup between Jackals starting pitcher Lendy Castillo and Sussex County Miners starter Tom Burns on Saturday night, resulting in a 2-1 Miners victory in game three of the series.
Both pitchers threw five shutout innings and allowed three and five runs, respectively, until Miners second baseman Mikey Reynolds tripled in the top of the sixth. Designated hitter Nate Coronado then hit a fielders choice, scoring Reynolds to make it 1-0. The Jackals answered back in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI single from catcher Jason Agresti to tie the game.
A sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth gave the Miners its second lead of the game and ultimately the win. Sussex County defeated the Jackals 2-1 in a well-played game.
The Miners and the Jackals meet again Sunday night at Skylands Stadium for a 4:05pm start time.
