Mississippi Surge News Release
The members of the Mississippi Surge hockey team took some time Tuesday to visit some heroes as they toured the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport.
They walked through sites such as the Hall of Honor and Valor Hall as they visited with the residents who welcomed the team.
"It's a city here," Thomas Lynch, retired from the Air Force, and resident of the home said. Lynch was especially excited to greet the Surge players as an active member of the Surge booster club. "People ask what do we have here and I tell them we have everything a city has. And we have the best people in the world here to take care of us."
Lynch was on hand when the Surge opened its home season with a 3-0 win over Huntsville Friday night. He plans to attend the remaining home games this year, so was delighted to share his home with the Surge.
A seven game homestand for the Surge continues on Friday against the Mississippi RiverKings at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum at 7:05 p.m.
Season tickets for the 2011-12 Surge season are on sale now, with plans starting for less than $10 per game. For more information call the Surge at 228-287-PUCK (7825).
