Surge Lose to Fury, 12-7

ONTARIO, Calif. - Gabriel Padilla and Danny Mititelu scored two powerplay goals in the third quarter, despite the Surge falling short on the road to the Fury by a score of 12-7 on Sunday night, dropping their record to 0-2 on the season.

The Furys' Tiguinho Dias drew the first point of the match in the first quarter with an unassisted goal, planting the first of the four goals, with one assist and no penalties, en-route to their victory over the Surge.

Sacramento responded with two goals in the first quarter, from Matt Germain on an assist from Andy Shakarji and a goal from Mikey Duarte assisted by Norman Levesque, but failed to take the lead finishing the first quarter 4-2.

The Surge continued to stay behind the Fury for the remainder of the game scoring only five more goals, two in the second and third quarters and a solo goal in the fourth quarter.

Though the Surge yielded 14 shots-on-goal and scored seven, the Fury managed 58 shots-on-goal while completing 12. The loss goes to goalkeeper Cesar Castillo with nine goals allowed, 33 SA and 24 SV on 30 minutes played in the first and second quarter. Goalkeeper Andrew Kelley finished the game for Sacramento allowing three goals, 25 SA and 22 SV.

The Surge return home for their home opener against the Seattle Impact at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday at the Jackson Sports Academy at McClellan Park.
