
Surf Surges In 3rd Quarter To Outlast The Cobras

Compton Cobras lead this past Sunday's game for the first two quarters, until the duo effort of "Sonny" Smith and John Clark broke the 68-68 tie. The 4th quarter began the surge of back to back strong plays by the Surf with Terry Menefee's slam dunk, John Clark's 3D-light 3pointer, and Kalonji "Kono" Kadima's consecutive 3-pointers. The Cobras efforts defused after Richard Hardwick's intense half-court shot making the final score 117 - 98. John Clark was player of the game by making 30 points, seven 3-pointers, and 6 assists.
Surf's next top player performances were Aaron Hands with 18 points, 9 rebounds; Terry Menefee's 13 points; Chris Agnes who contributed 12 points, 8 rebounds; and Jamal Kendrick who added 6 points and 9 rebounds to the victory.
The glamorous Surf Squad dancers sported new outfits and added a lot of energy throughout timeouts and halftime.A number of entertainersdazzled the crowd athalf-time and the breaksincluding a local Brazilian drum team called "Sol e Mar" and thefantastic singing of two performers, "Sominique" and the "E'levee" trio.
This week's publicity on TMZ.com's Sports section of the dunk on "The Game" by your SD Surf point guard Sonny Smith, created some buzz and pride for San Diego Surf of the ABA. The Surf will play Thursday evening in Las Vegas.
