PITTSFIELD, MA - The Pittsfield Suns (1-2) defeated the Torrington Titans (0-2) at Wahconah Park for the first win of 2014.

For the third game in a row, the Suns found themselves down early as Torrington took an early 1-0 lead. After a one out walk to Jack St. Clair and a single by Taylor Olmstead, Mike Odenwaelder doubled (1) to score St. Clair from second. That would be the only run the Titans could muster for the night, after only amassing four hits in nine innings.

The Suns scored their first run of the night in the fourth inning. Luke Reynolds started the inning off with a single and would come around to score three batters later on a two-out RBI double from Derek Gardella (2).

Pittsfield needed only one more run to defeat the Titans, which came in the sixth inning. Reynolds, who would reach base on an error by the second basemen, would be thrown out at the plate on Michael Valentin Jr. triple for the second out. Valentin would score on a single by Jeff McGarry to make it 2-1 Suns.

Jamin McCann (1-0) records the win after strong pitching performance after allowing only four hits, three walks and three strikeouts in his debut with the Suns. Torrington pitcher, Mike Bonaiuto (0-1) records the loss, giving up six hits and two runs, one earned in six innings of work.
