JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - After his offense scored five first inning runs, starter Cody White cruised through his second Double-A outing, allowing one run in six and two-thirds innings while leading the Jacksonville Suns (31-36) to a 10-1 Thursday night victory over the Huntsville Stars (40-27) in front of 9,506 at the Baseball Grounds.

The win was Jacksonville's first over Huntsville during 2008, cutting the season series to six games to one. The current series is tied one game a piece.

Jacksonville jumped on Huntsville starter Derek Miller right away, sending all nine batters to the plate in the first inning. Suns outfielder Jamie Hoffmann started the scoring with a sacrifice fly to knock in James Tomlin for a 1-0 lead. Later, with the bases loaded, shortstop Juan Gonzalez doubled to left field to score all three runners for a 4-0 lead. Adam Godwin next singled home Gonzalez for a 5-0 lead. Miller left the game after the one inning with five runs on four hits with two walks, two strikeouts and one wild pitch.

The five run cushion gave Jacksonville starter Cody White room to work, as he controlled the tempo through out the night against the best batting team in the Southern League. After giving up one hit in each of the first two innings, Huntsville finally broke through against White in the third inning as Jacksonville native Mat Gamel hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield scoring relief pitcher Mike Jones for a 5-1 Suns lead.

Including the third inning sacrifice fly, White settled in to put down 11 of the next 12 Huntsville hitters in order with only a fourth inning walk interrupting the string of outs. The Texas left the game in the sixth with two out after loading the bases on two walks and fielder's choice before reliever Brian Akin got out of the jam by inducing a pop out.

The Suns offense continued its assault in the fourth inning against Huntsville reliever Mike Jones when James Tomlin doubled home Adam Godwin for a 6-1 lead.

Huntsville reliever Josh Wahpepah entered before the fifth inning, giving up two runs in the frame, both scoring on an Adam Godwin single for an 8-1 lead. The Suns scored their final two runs off Wahpepah in the sixth inning, with a two-run double from Mark Bellhorn to complete the scoring at 10-1.

Suns starter Cody White (1-0) picked up the win in his second Double-A performance. Stars starter Derek Miller (5-2) fell in the loss after the five-run first inning.
