
Sundogs' Streak Continues, 4-3 Win

Prescott Valley, AZ - The Arizona Sundogs extended their winning streak to five games, picking up a 4-3 win against the Allen Americans Friday night at Tim's Toyota Center. Brandon Coccimiglio and David Rutherford each posted a three point night.
Less than a minute into the second period and Andrew Engelage's scoreless streak came to an end after Allen's Alex Lavoie, registered their first goal. The middle frame saw a flurry of goals from both teams, with five goals being registered under ten minutes. Coccimiglio quickly responded to Allen's goal 1:38 into the period with assists from Rutherford and Michael Couch. 3:36 later and Coccimiglio tallied his second goal of the night with assists from Rutherford and Kevin Baker. Sebastian Geoffrion was sent to the box for a two minute holding minor sending the Sundogs on a penalty kill which resulted in the American's second goal when Jonathan Lessard scored and 1:57 later Garrett Klotz posted their third, briefly giving Allen the lead after 40 minutes of play.
Arizona received their own power play scoring opportunity when Trevor Hendrikx was issued a high sticking penalty 9:31 into the period which Ian Schultz capitalized on, equalizing the game after receiving the feed from Coccimiglio and Rutherford. The game was still undecided after three periods and overtime, forcing them into a five-man shootout. Bryan Cameron tallied the game winning goal.
Engelage received the win blocking 19 shots on net. Arizona outshot Allen 32-22. The Sundogs were 1-5 on the power play and the Americans were 1-3. Both teams meet again tomorrow night in their final match-up on home ice when the puck drops at 7:05pm at Tim's Toyota Center.
