
Sundogs out Cutthroats in 3-4 Win

Prescott Valley, AZ - The Arizona Sundogs edged out the Denver Cutthroats Saturday night at the Denver Coliseum snapping their seven game losing skid in a 3-4 win.
After 20 minutes of play both teams were knotted at one goal each. The Cutthroats scored their first goal on the power play after Sebastian Geoffrion was given two minutes for hooking. Denver's Daniel Barczuk tallied the goal poking the puck under the pads of Sundogs goalie Andrew Engelage . 1:23 later Arizona answered back with a goal from Kevin Baker, his seventh of the season.
Both teams went back and forth in the middle frame with Arizona posting two goals in the second period. Denver's Garett Bembridge initiated the scoring in the second when he registered a power play goal 7:31 into the period after Tommy Maxwell and Daniel Amesbury would accessed coincidentals for roughing and less than a minute later Alex Velischek was given two minutes for tripping. Arizona's Maxwell received a penalty shot which was unsuccessful after being slashed by Amesbury on a breakaway. With an extra-attacker on the ice for the Sundogs Baker registered his second goal of the night and with under five minutes remaining, Mcilveen tallied a shorthanded goal blasting the puck top shelf of Kent Patterson. Denver retaliated by posting their own power play goal equalizing the game with 15 seconds left in the period.
McCready scored the only goal in the final period with assist from Baker and posted the game winner for the Arizona Sundogs, snapping their seven game losing skid. 50 penalty minutes were accessed, 34 of those minutes coming in the second period.
Andrew Engelage was awarded the win tonight blocking 32 of 35 shots on net. The Sundogs were outshot 28-32. Arizona was 0-8 on the power play, holding the lowest power play percentage in the league. Denver converted 3-8 power play opportunities. Kevin Baker had a three point night and Tuckerman and McCready each had a two point night.
The Sundogs return home to host the Wichita Thunder for a pair of games, December 20th and 21st before squaring off with the Denver Cutthroats for a series of games at the end of December.
