Arizona Sundogs News Release
The Arizona Sundogs are coming off back-to-back losses to start the season for the second-straight year, dropping Friday night's season opener 1-0 to the visiting Allen Americans and Saturday night's contest 6-4 to the expansion club.
Sundogs Storylines:
- Arizona was held scoreless for just the fourth time in franchise history in Friday night's 1-0 loss to the Americans.
- Sundogs Head Coach and General Manager Marco Pietroniro's next win will be his 101st as the team's bench boss. He secured win number 100 in last season's second to last game of the year, a 2-1 win over the New Mexico Scorpions.
- Veteran defenseman and recently-named player/assistant coach Chris Bartolone is just 21 games away his 1,000th as a pro. Entering his 20th professional season (4th with Arizona), Bartolone ranks tops in team franchise history in games played (222), points (208) and assists (158).
- Bartolone has averaged nearly a point per game in the regular season during his time in Arizona, recording 180 points (43g/137a) in 194 regular season contests. The veteran d-man continued that trend with a two-point (1g/1a) performance in Saturday's 6-4 loss to Allen.
- Newly acquired blue liner Mike Nesdill leads the team in scoring along with Bartolone with two assists, both coming on the power play in Saturday night's loss.
- Former CHL Rookie of the Year Finalist Torren Delforte also recorded his first goal as a Sundog in Saturday night's 6-4 loss.
- Konrad Reeder scored his first point as a Sundog in Saturday night's 6-4 loss to Allen after scoring 64 of his previous 217 CHL points against Arizona. The two-time CHL All-Star converted on an uncontested breakaway chance just as a Sundogs penalty kill came to an end late in the third period.
