
Sundogs Fall in Offensive Battle, 8-4

PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ - A three-goal first period was the difference as the Rapid City Rush jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in an 8-4 win over the Arizona Sundogs on Wednesday night at Tim's Toyota Center.
It was a special night for Arizona's Kyle Hood, who played in his 261st career game for the Sundogs, passing Chris Bartolone for most all-time. Hood finished with shorthanded goal in the third period.
Rapid City (30-17-6) opened up the game's scoring with a power play goal courtesy of Shawn Limpright at 6:27. Konrad Reeder added the next two for the Rush late in the frame to score a pair of goals in his second straight game and give Rapid City a 3-0 lead they would never give up.
Both teams traded second period goals as Kevin Petovello and Craig Macdonald each scored for the Sundogs (16-30-9). Rapid City however responded quickly to each of the tallies as Andrew Smale scored 19 seconds after Petovello at 7:57 and Scott Wray finished off a 2-on-0 rush five minutes after Macdonald with 4:30 to play.
Dominic D'amour also scored in the second period.
Luke Erickson added a third period goal for the Sundogs. Jeff Kyrzakos and Mike Vaskivuo each scored for Rapid City.
Scott Reid took the loss for Arizona, stopping 38 shots. Tim Boron earned the win with a 32-save performance.
The Rush finished 3-for-7 on the power play while Arizona went 0-for-2.
The Sundogs continue their four-game home stand on Friday when kick off a two-game set against the Dayton Gems. Game time is set for 7:05 PM MST and the action can be heard live on Cattle Country 94.3 FM.
