INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - The Missouri Mavericks of the Central Hockey League (CHL) announced Wednesday the club has placed forward Carlyle Lewis on the season ending injured reserve. Lewis will undergo surgery on his hip.
Lewis, 33 (3/1/78), played in 37 games for the Mavericks this season and accounted for three assists. He was placed on the 10-day injured reserve on February 10, and has missed a total of 17 games this season. The Middleton, Nova Scotia native is the team's all-time leader in penalty minutes with 548 minutes in 165 games with the Mavericks.
"Carlyle has been a great leader for our hockey club," said Mavericks' Head Coach Scott Hillman. "He does so much that goes unnoticed except by his teammates, those are the aspects that we will miss most. We wish him a speedy recovery, and he will continue to carry a strong presence in our locker room. Carlyle will remain a big part of this team."
