Sundogs Down Fish in Overtime, 4-3

Prescott Valley, AZ - The Arizona Sundogs downed the Denver Cutthroats in overtime with a 4-3 win at Tim's Toyota Center Saturday night. The Sundogs lead the season series against the Fish with a 3-2-0 record.

Arizona sealed their 3-4 victory over Denver after registering three goals in the middle frame and the game winner overtime goal. The Cutthroats were the only team to score in the first 20 minutes when Matt Ambroz ripped a shot past Sundogs netminder Chris Rawlings four minutes in.

Brandon Coccimgilio tallied two goals in the second, totaling four goals in his last two games. His first came 3:51 into the period with a second left on a four-on-three power play. Kevin Baker poked the puck in the net giving the Sundogs a brief lead. Coccimiglio scored his second power play goal of the evening after Jean-Philipp Chabot went to the box on a two minute slashing minor. Travis Ouellette and Mike Trebish each received the assists. The Sundogs short lived two goal lead was erased when Daniel Barczuk scored 29 seconds later and Garett Bembridge tallied a power play goal with under five minutes remaining in the second period.

After a scoreless third period the teams were forced into overtime where Matt McCready notched the game winner 1:10 into the period.

Rawlings was awarded the win and blocked 31 of 34 shots. The Sundogs outshot the Cutthroats 44-34. Arizona was 2-8 on the power play and Denver was 1-4. Both teams are back at it again Tuesday, December 31, 2013 where they close out a three game home stand and the 2013 year.
