
Sundogs Deny Beast in 3-2 Win

Prescott Valley, AZ - The Arizona Sundogs denied the Brampton Beast Friday night at Tim's Toyota Center with a 3-2 win.
After 20 minutes of play the Arizona Sundogs trailed the Brampton Beast after Andrew Fournier scored halfway through the opening round. Arizona gained the lead 1:35 into the second period when Ian Schultz, who was recently activated from injury reserve, notched a power play goal after the Beast's Michael MacIsaac was issued two minutes for slashing. Kevin Baker and Velischek each picked up the assists. Sebastian Geoffrion scored the Sundogs' second goal 8:40 in the middle frame, ripping a shot from the point with a feed from Justin Pender.
With 9:18 left in regulation Bryan Cameron came in with the game winning goal and Velischek picked up his second point of the night with an assist. Brampton closed their deficit by one goal when Brett Smith scored with the extra attacker.
Andrew Engelage was awarded the win blocking 18 shots on goal. Arizona outshot Brampton 34-20 and were 1-5 on the power play. The Sundogs penalty kill unit shut down the Beast who were 0-5 on the power play.
The Sundogs close out their three-game home stand against the Beast, when they meet for the final time during the regular season. Join the Sundogs tomorrow night when they wear special Team USA Jerseys in honor of the 2014 Winter Olympics and immediately following the game they will auction off of the jerseys.
