Strikers Welcome Miami NASL Team
May 20, 2015 - North American Soccer League (NASL)
Fort Lauderdale Strikers News Release
The Fort Lauderdale Strikers are thrilled with the news that a new North American Soccer League (NASL) team is coming to Miami. We welcome Miami FC to the NASL.
Riccardo Silva, Paolo Maldini, and their entire team are first-class businessmen. We believe that Miami FC will be a successful club under their leadership and direction.
South Florida is a soccer hotbed and there's more than enough room for two professional teams in the region. While we hope that a budding rivalry will develop quickly between the two sides on the pitch, we wish them only the best as they work toward the spring of 2016. We support the NASL's decision wholeheartedly.
Quote from Strikers' Managing Partner Ricardo Geromel:
"The Fort Lauderdale Strikers welcome Miami FC to the NASL. I am certain that the ownership group led by Riccardo Silva and Paolo Maldini will create a first-class organization. We expect a healthy and passionate rivalry when we meet on the field, which is great news for South Florida soccer fans. It furthers the case that this region is fast becoming the soccer capital of North America."
