Jacksonville Armada FC News Release
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (May 20, 2015) - Jacksonville Armada FC forward Alhassane Keita was named to the North American Soccer League Team of the Week on Wednesday.
It is the Guinea international's second selection to the Team of the Week this season. Keita scored the Armada FC's goal in their 1-1 draw with the Atlanta Silverbacks last Saturday in Atlanta. He took a feed from Marcos Flores that went between Atlanta's center backs and fired it past Silverbacks goalkeeper Steward Ceus and into the net on the far post.
Keita was previously named to the NASL Team of the Week on May 6 and was named NASL Player of the Week on May 4 after leading the Armada FC past defending NASL champions San Antonio Scorpions on a 93rd minute stoppage time goal on May 2 in Jacksonville.
A two-time Golden Boot winner (Swiss Super League with FC Zurich in 2006 and Moroccan first division with Olympique Khouribga in 2001) and former La Liga striker, Keita leads Jacksonville with three goals scored and has logged 540 minutes of action this season.
It is the third-straight week for an Armada FC player to be named to Team of the Week. Goalkeeper Miguel Gallardo and midfielder Bochy Hoyos earned the honor last week, while Keita and Flores were named to the squad the previous week.
The Armada FC, standing in third place with 10 points on the NASL table, will take on Minnesota United FC at 8 p.m. EST this Saturday in Blaine, Minn.
