FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Friday, May 29, 2015) - Fort Lauderdale Strikers goalkeeper David Meves fractured his jaw during Wednesday's match at the Charleston Battery. The 24 year old is expected to be sidelined for six weeks.

Meves' injury occurred in the 69th minute of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup game. Battery defender Shawn Ferguson made contact with the goalkeeper's face, and Meves went down immediately. He remained in the game for its duration. Meves returned with the team Thursday morning before being evaluated in South Florida.

The Strikers announced earlier today that goalkeeper Josh Ford has joined the team on loan

on loan from Major League Soccer's Orlando City Soccer Club. Ford will be available for Saturday's North American Soccer League Spring Season match at the San Antonio Scorpions. Ford will be with the Red & Gold through the duration of the Spring Season.

Fort Lauderdale has started David Meves in goal for six of its eight competitive matches this season. Lionel Brown was in net for all 90 minutes of last Saturday's (May 23) NASL game against the Carolina RailHawks, giving up the game's lone goal.

Joe Nasco started one match this season, at Ottawa on April 25. Nasco broke his fibula and a bone in his foot while making a save against the Fury in the match's ninth minute.
