Fort Lauderdale Strikers News Release
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Monday, June 29, 2015) - The Fort Lauderdale Strikers today announced that Léo Moura has been released from the remainder of his contract with the club. The decision was made jointly between the Strikers and Moura.
The Niterói, Brazil native appeared in 10 competitive matches for Fort Lauderdale. Moura started nine North American Soccer League Spring Season contests, playing 886 minutes. He scored two goals and recorded one assist in league action.
Moura served as the Strikers' captain since his arrival from Brazilian Serie A side Flamengo, where he played for 10 years and also wore the captain's armband.
"We thank Léo for all he did for the Strikers in his tenure with the club," said Managing Partner Ricardo Geromel. "He was a true professional on and off the pitch and his departure is in no way a reflection of how we felt about him or his relationship with the team. He expressed a desire to return to Brazil for family reasons, and we respect his decision. We wish Léo and his family all the best."
