Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Rancho Cucamonga, CA - The Lake Elsinore Storm sent the Quakes to their third consecutive loss, hammering Rancho on Friday night by a final of 13-1 at The Epicenter.

With just three wins in their first 12 head-to-head games at The Epicenter, the Storm took out some season-long frustration on the Quakes, pounding Rancho pitching for 13 runs and 15 hits, while also capitalizing on the Quakes' season-high five errors.

The Storm took the lead in the first and then broke it open in the second, taking a 5-0 lead after just two innings and chasing Quakes' starter Brandon Martinez (4-4). Luis Domoromo's third homer of the year highlighted the four-run second.

Jordan Roberts gave up three runs in the third, as Lake Elsinore took a commanding 8-0 lead.

Joc Pederson, who had two of Rancho's five hits, slugged his 13th homer of the year for the Quakes' lone run, making it 8-1 in the third.

The Storm got three unearned runs in the sixth off of Steve Smith, including a two-run shot by Tommy Medica, then padded their lead with single runs in the eighth and ninth off of the Rancho bullpen.

Storm starter Matt Andriese (9-7) pitched impressively over six innings, allowing just one run on four hits, while striking out seven.

Now four games out of the wild card, the Quakes (19-28, 56-61) will look to break their three-game skid on Saturday, sending Ryan Acosta (1-1) to the mound, opposite Lake Elsinore's Mark Pope (7-7). Saturday night is a special Quakes' jersey auction, featuring 1993 Quakes' throw-back jerseys and a special post-game Fireworks Display. Game time is 7:05pm. Tickets are available by calling (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com. Go Quakes!
