SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Sioux Falls Stampede defeated the Tri-City Storm 7-3 in Game 4 of the Western Conference Final on Saturday night at the Denny Sanford Premier Center, putting an end to the Storm's season by winning the series three games to one.
Storm goals in the loss were scored by Vince Pedrie, Nick Master and Chris Wilkie. Jared Rutledge got the start in net and made 23 saves for Tri-City.
The night started well for the Storm, with Pedrie scoring on the team's first shot of the game just 31 seconds into the first period with assists from Master and captain Garrett Gamez.
But Sioux Falls scored three times before the end of the opening frame to take a 3-1 lead. Two of the goals were scored by Mikey Eyssimont.
The Stampede opened the lead to 5-1 in the middle period on goals by Kieffer Bellows and J.M. Piotrowski.
Tri-City scored two straight to get back in the game and make it 5-3, but couldn't get any closer. Master tallied a power play goal at 17:45 of the second and Wilkie got his third of the playoffs at 6:47 of the third.
Initially, Wade Allison put the puck in the net to bring the Storm within one goal of Sioux Falls late in the third, but after a video review, the goal was disallowed due to a hand pass by Dan Labosky.
Bellows scored his third of the night to register a hat trick at 15:26 of the third, before Troy Loggins finished the Stampede win with an empty net goal less than two minutes later.
Tri-City outshot Sioux Falls in the game 38-30. Stampede goalie Stefanos Lekkas made 35 saves for his team in the contest.
