
Storm's Hunter Garlent Named CHL Player of the Week

Toronto, ON - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Guelph Storm forward Hunter Garlent is the CHL Player of the Week after scoring three goals and five assists for eight points in three games with a plus-minus rating of plus-3 for the week ending October 21.
Garlent's eight points helped lead the Storm to three wins last week lifting them to top spot in the OHL's Western Conference with a 9-2-0-1 overall record. Last Friday night he scored once and added an assist in a 6-3 win over the Sarnia Sting before recording a career-high four-points with a goal and three assists as first star of an 8-5 win over the Saginaw Spirit on Saturday. He finished the week Sunday with another two-point game with a goal and an assist as third star of a 7-1 win over the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.
Garlent, a 17-year-old from Thorold, ON, is playing in his second OHL season with the Storm after scoring 16 goals and 26 assists for 42 points in 60 games as a rookie. A first round pick of the Storm in the 2011 OHL Priority Selection, Garlent is eligible for the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
Also considered for the award this week was Colin Smith of the Kamloops Blazers who scored three goals and seven assists for 10 points in four games, and Petr Straka of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar who scored four goals and three assists for seven points in three games.
