SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Sioux Falls Storm open up the regular season 1-0 after a 35-24 win against the Quad City Steamwheelers on March 13.

The Storm were the first to get on the board in the first quarter with a 29-yard field goal attempt from Sawyer Petre to put them up by 3. Quad City answered back four minutes later to tie the game at 3-3 with a 27-yard field goal attempt from Kimo Naehu.

To start off the second quarter, Nate Chavious rushed the ball four yards for a touchdown to give the Storm the lead; Petre completed the extra point to bring the score to 10-3. The thunder defense held its ground on 4th down causing Quad City a loss of 11 yards and Undraez Lilly with his first sack of the season. On third and goal for the Storm, Jackson Darreon of the Steamwheelers intercepted a pass from Tasleem Wilson and ran the ball 50 yards for a touchdown. Quad City attempted a two-point conversion, but the rush failed, leaving the score at 10-9. With six seconds on the play clock before half, Tasleem Wilson completed the pass to Aaron Dilworth for five yards to extend the Storm's lead to 17-9. On the kickoff to Quad City, Petre successfully completed a deuce kick to close the half with the Storm on top 19-9.

Quad City started the second half with the ball and completed a nine-yard touchdown pass from David Perkins to Keyvan Ruud, closing the gap to 19-15. Kimo Naehu attempted a two-point conversion but failed to rush into the end zone. The Storm answered back with a rush from Bryson Denley for a one-yard touchdown, bringing the score to 25-15. Quad City, Kimo Naehu completed a 29-yard field goal attempt to bring the game within a touchdown, 25-18. The Storm responded with completing a 20-yard field goal attempt, putting the Storm up 28-18. Under a minute left to play, a fumble by Quad City led to Undraez Lilly recovering the football for a Storm touchdown, to bring the score to 35-18. Quad City's Kerrion Moore returned the ball 49 yards for the final touchdown of the game, bringing the final score to 35-24.

Quarterback Tasleem Wilson completed nine passes for 71 yards for one touchdown and one interception, he also had 42 rushing yards. Running backs Nate Chavious and Bryson Denley each had one rushing touchdown. Wide receiver Aaron Dilworth had 56 receiving yards and one touchdown. Linebacker Marquis Hendrix led the Thunder Defense with 11 tackles, one tackle for loss and one sack. Linebacker Undraez Lilly one tackle for loss, one sack and one fumble recovery for a touchdown. Kicker Sawyer Petre made two field goals, one deuce and three extra points.

The Sioux Falls Storm (1-0) will travel to face the Bismarck Bucks (1-0) at 7:05 PM on Saturday, March 19. The Storm will host a viewing party at Blue Rock Bar & Grill.
