Storm Win in Play-Off Like Atmosphere

(Summerside, PE) Halifax played like the desperate team they are but couldn't hold off the Summerside STORM Sunday afternoon at Credit Union Place during Al Stewart Day, Newcomers Day, and Rogers Communications Day. The STORM outscored the Rainmen by 13 points in the 4th quarter to come away with a 118-112 comeback win which pushed their record to 24-14 on the season in front of 2,159 hometown fans. The game was very intense from start to finish and had the feel of a play-off game.

The STORM attack was led by Brandon Robinson with 33 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Omari Johnson had 28 points while Al Stewart scored 6 points but handed out 12 assists. Akeem Wright was top gun for Halifax with 29 points.

Next up for the STORM is the London Lightning who make a visit to PEI on Thursday night for a 7 o'clock starter. The STORM are the only team to have a winning record against the Lightning this season.

Susan Adams of Summerside was the big winner of the 50-50 draw winning half of the $3,900 total pot. Joyce Green of Summerside won a Subway prize while Anthony Ford of Cornwall won a carwash from Wilsons Fuels. Gabe Trainor from Charlottetown proved to be a crowd favourite while trying to win the Clarks Toyota Shoot to Win but came up just a little short on winning $250 cash. Everyone at the STORM game Sunday afternoon won a free carwash tomorrow from Wilsons Fuels on Water St. in Summerside as the STORM won the game. And because the STORM won AND went over 100 points, everyone with a ticket in Section U won a free slice of pizza tomorrow at Greco Pizza.

Playoff ticket packages for 3 and 6 game sets are on sale at the Credit Union Place box office or online by visiting the STORM website. Individual game ticket prices will be announced this week along with STORM home dates for the semi-finals of the NBL playoffs.

STORM Fans are also reminded to vote for your favourite player to the NBL All-Star Game by visiting the NBL of Canada website and following the All-Star links. Fans can vote once everyday. This years NBL All-Star game is being held in Saint John at Harbour Station on the weekend of April 13th and 14th.
