SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Sioux Falls Storm grinded out an overtime thriller Friday night as they inched past the Iowa Barnstormers 50-47.

It was a game where there were multiple lead changes and ties in the second half and was capped off by a game-winning touchdown from Daniel Smith to a wide-open Nate Chavious in the end zone. The Storm's (4-3, 3-3) win over the Barnstormers (3-3, 3-3) this season after previously losing 45-31 March 28 and 47-37 April 16.

Smith got it going for Sioux Falls to start the game, running in for a one-yard touchdown putting them up 7-0, capping off a six-minute drive to start the game. Sawyer Petre kicked a 32-yard field goal with 34 seconds left in the first quarter and it only took one play for Iowa to respond the next play on a 43-yard touchdown pass to Kentrez Bell at the end of the first. A dropped kick for the PAT gave Iowa two points, trailing 10-8 after the first.

Chavious got his first touchdown of the game at the beginning of the second quarter, breaking free for a 19-yard score to extend the lead to 17-8. After another touchdown from the Barnstormers and a field goal from Petre to close out the half saw Sioux Falls with a five-point advantage at halftime 20-15.

Iowa took its first lead of the game to start the third quarter, with a pass from Darius-James Peterson to Dom McNeil to make it 22-20. Sioux Falls quickly responded in two minutes starting a back-and-forth affair in the third quarter that saw five lead changes over the course of the quarter. At the end of the quarter, Peterson rushed in for a touchdown, leading 37-30 with 15 minutes to play.

Each team were trading touchdowns again as Chavious had two more touchdowns in the quarter, including a game-tying touchdown with six minutes left to knot things up at 44.

The Barnstormers were burning the clock for the next possession, hoping to get a last-minute score. With one minute remaining, Iowa was on 4th and 1 at the Storm 12-yard line and Peterson was stopped by Famus Hasty and Undraez Lilly, turning it over on downs.

The Storm marched down to the Iowa 20-yard line, setting Petre up for a 36-yard field goal with two seconds remaining. The kick was wide left, sending the game into overtime.

The Barnstormers got possession to start the overtime period and were not able to find the end zone but knocked down a 13-yard field goal to regain the lead at 47-44.

Then the Storm got the ball afterwards and went all the way down field to the four-yard line. It took six plays in the red-zone due to penalties, but Smith found Chavious wide open in the corner after Smith was scrambling in the pocket. Chavious' touchdown catch was his fourth touchdown of the game.

Smith finished the game throwing 15-for-25 passes for 111 yards, two passing touchdowns, a rushing touchdown and two interceptions. Chavious ran 19 times for 95 yards and caught eight passes for 43 yards. Dilworth reeled in two receptions for 24 yards and one touchdowns. Sawyer Petre made three field goals and five PATs. Famus Hasty led the Thunder Defense with seven tackles. Undraez Lilly tallied six tackles and one interception. While Paris Taylor had one pass break-up and four tackles.
