Storm Start too Strong for JetHawks

Lancaster JetHawks News Release

LANCASTER, Calif. - A six-run first inning for Lake Elsinore was too much for the JetHawks Thursday, as Lancaster fell to the Storm, 13-8, at The Hangar. The JetHawks got within two runs, but were unable to chase down the Storm.

Lake Elsinore (28-25, 63-58) picked up where they left off after a historic comeback Wednesday night. They scored six runs on seven hits against Colten Schmidt (1-4) in the opening inning Thursday. They had scored the last 17 runs in the series heading into the bottom of the first inning.

The JetHawks (27-26, 61-60) showed some fight, scoring four times in their half of the first inning. Lancaster would get no closer than two runs in the game.

Taylor Snyder continued his hot Second Half, smashing a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth. The infielder has hit 12 of his 16 home runs after the All-Star Break.

That home run made it a two-run game again with the Storm leading, 9-7. Gabe Mosser (3-0) earned the win for the Storm despite allowing seven runs (four earned) in five innings.

Lake Elsinore's offense proved to be too much, as they scored four runs against the Lancaster bullpen. All nine Storm batters had a hit, and four different players had three-hit games. Eight different players drove in a run for the visitors.

With the loss, the JetHawks have lost eight of their last 11 games and they've lost four consecutive series. Lancaster was posed to win the series, but could not hold a ten-run lead in the ninth inning of Wednesday's game. They now sit in third place in both the Second Half and overall standings.

The JetHawks hit the road Friday for the final series against a North Division opponent in 2019. Righty Garrett Schilling (8-6) starts the opener for Lancaster against Modesto lefty Ian McKinney (11-5). First pitch at John Thurman Field is 7:05 pm for the first of a three-game set against the Nuts.

JetHawks single game tickets, group tickets, ticket packages and season tickets are on sale now. Visit jethawks.com or call (661) 726-5400 for more information.
