Sioux Falls Storm News Release

The Sioux Falls Storm of United Indoor Football (UIF) is pleased to announce the signing of defensive linemen, Marques Salmond, Cory Johnsen-Lehr, and Roy Williams for the 2006 season. These three will bring loads of talent as well as size to the Storm defensive line.

Salmond, who stands at 6'0 270 lbs., helped Missouri Western State University to the 2005 Mineral Water Bowl Championship. Salmond led the team is sacks with 5.5 and in tackles for loss with 12.5 last year. His efforts landed him on the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) 2nd team in 2004 and 2005. Marques also recorded 47 tackles during Missouri Western's 9-3 season in 2005.

Johnsen-Lehr, who was a three-year starter at St. Cloud State, had his best collegiate season in 2004. The 6'2 290lb. Aberdeen native had 33 tackles and 2.5 sacks as well as being named to the All-NCC Second Team during the 2004 campaign. Johnsen was hampered by a groin injury in 2005, still managed 12 tackles and 2 sacks after missing 4 games as the Huskies went 8-3.

Williams, 6'2" 280 lbs., has spent the last 2 seasons with the South Georgia Wildcats of Arena Football2. During the 2005 season Williams contributed 19 tackles during a rough 3-13 season for the Wildcats. Williams went undrafted in the 2004 NFL Draft, but was in mini camp with Tampa Bay Bucs. Before his professional career, Williams was a standout at the University of Central Florida, recording 49 tackles and 1 sack during the 2003 season.

Storm General Manager Colin Steen is excited about these additions "These three additions really solidify our defensive front. Johnsen-Lehr is a pure nose guard but Salmond and Williams can play both nose guard and defensive end. The depth that will give us at defensive line should make us one of the best defensive lines in the UIF."
