Raptors Gain Experience at Offensive Coordinator

Rockford, IL. - Rock River Raptors are pleased to announce the hiring of Jack Phillips Jr. as the Offensive Coordinator to the Raptors coaching Staff.

"Jack is a good friend and I have coached with him in previous seasons," Said Coach Richards. "I have full confidence in Jack that he can run the offenses so I can focus on the defense and we can bring a winner to Rockford this year."

Jack Phillips Jr. spent last season at Southern University as an Assistant Coach and defensive back coach. Phillips is the former head coach of the National Indoor Football League's Houma Bayou Bucks. Phillips had a record of 26-16 as the coach of the Houma Bayou Bucks and made the playoffs 2 out of 3 years. In his last season in Houma the Bucks scored an amazing 810 points in 14 games for an average of 57.8 points a game. The top team scoring average last season in the UIF was 53.4 by the Lexington Horsemen. Last year, the Raptors only averaged 35.2 a game.

Before being a Head Coach, Phillips gained experience with the Memphis Xplores as the Offensive Coordinator in 2001 and was the Defensive Coordinator of the Bismarck Blaze in 2000. Phillips also spent several seasons playing in the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs as a 9th round draft pick. In his college years, he played at Alcorn State and was an All-American Selection as a Defensive Back.
