Sioux Falls Storm News Release

The Sioux Falls Storm is proud to announce they have signed head coach Kurtiss Riggs to a two-year contract extension that will keep him at the helm through the 2016 season. According to team owner, Todd Tryon, re-signing Riggs was essential as the franchise moves into the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. "I've always said, as long as I'm in control of this franchise, Coach Riggs will be our coach. What he has done throughout his coaching career is unmatched at any level and we are very fortunate to have him guide us into a new era."

The upcoming season will mark Riggs' thirteenth year as head coach of the Sioux Falls Storm. During his tenure, Riggs has led the team to eight league championships, three undefeated seasons and he has compiled a career record of 168-33. The team currently holds the last four IFL championships and has hefty expectations heading into the 2015 season.

Riggs is a 1997 graduate of the University of Sioux Falls, where he led the Cougars to the 1996 NAIA National Championship. For his accomplishments at USF, Riggs was inducted into both the USF and the NAIA Hall of Fame. Off the field, Riggs teaches at Roosevelt High School and is owner and director of Riggs Premier Football, a football-training academy specializing in personalized instruction for area athletes.
