Storm select 15 in USHL draft

Tri-City Storm News Release
KEARNEY - The Tri-City Storm of the United States Hockey League selected 15 players in Tuesday's entry draft beginning with forward Mike Cichy (See-CHEE) of the Boston Jr. Bruins. The Storm selected Cichy with the ninth overall selection in the first round.
Cichy, who played for both the U.S. National Development Program and the Boston Jr. Bruins of the Eastern Junior Hockey League last season, has already committed to play college hockey at the University of North Dakota.
For Storm head coach and general manager, Bliss Littler, it was the first time in four years that he hasn't selected a goaltender with the team's first pick.
"You look at what you've lost the most of and always build from the goaltender out. Having Aaron Rock returning, the need to draft a number one goaltender wasn't pressing," said Littler following the draft. "Losing guys like Calle Ridderwall and Jesse Martin up front we needed somebody that can put points up every night. After that you can't have too many good defensemen."
The Storm will now take the 11 returning players, four futures players, 15 drafted players and numerous other invitees to tryout camp being held June 1-3 in Bloomington, Minn.
"This is the time for assistant coaches and scouts to shine," Littler said. "This is the start of the 07-08 season and hopefully our drafted players will help us be contenders for the Anderson and Clark Cups."
