
Storm Seeking Fifth Straight Victory

Sioux Falls Storm News Release
The Sioux Falls Storm of United Indoor Football (UIF) is pleased to announce the Storm will be traveling to Lexington, KY this Saturday, June 11, 2005, to battle the Horsemen for the second time this season. The Storm, who currently sits with a 7-3 record, beat the Horsemen in their first meeting during the Storm's home opener and "championship re-match," 52-24. Sioux Falls is coming off a bye week and on a four game winning streak after a convincing win over the Black Hills Red Dogs in week 11, 55-15. Lexington is currently 6-4 and on top of the South Division. The Horsemen are also coming off a bye week after suffering a tough overtime loss at home in week 11 to the Omaha Beef, 55-58.
The Storm has many players among the top of statistical categories around the league. "Mr. Utility," James Jones, is currently second in the league for all purpose yards with 1,615 yards and is averaging 161.5 yards per game between rushing, receiving, and kick returns. "JJ" is also fourth in the UIF in scoring with 108 points on the season. Shannon Poppinga is leading the UIF in interceptions with 8. "Poppy" has returned two of those eight interceptions for touchdowns. USD alumni, Mark Blackburn, leads the league in total tackles with 68, he has 49 unassisted and 38 assisted. Mark has also sacked the quarterback on five different occasions this season. Adam Hicks is again leading the way in the kicking department with hitting 17 field goals, which has him first in the UIF. Hicks is sitting second in PAT kicking by putting the ball through the uprights 51 of 59 attempts. Last but not least, quarterback Terrance Bryant sits with a 105.3 passer rating, putting him second in the UIF in that category. Bryant is also third league wise in passing yards by connecting 122 passes on 186 attempts for 1,306 yards on the season.
The Storm defense will have their work cut-out for them as they must stop Lexington quarterback, Dusty Bonner. Bonner had a tremendous game against the Beef in week 11 as he connected on 19 of 37 passes for 225 yards and an amazing 6 TD's. Bonner did however manage to throw three interceptions during their loss. Chad Spencer was on the receiving end of three of Bonner's touchdown throws, as Spencer had six receptions for 84 yards. Leading the defensive for the Horsemen in the Omaha game was defensive back, William Mulder. Mulder had six solo tackles, three assisted, one breakup, and two interceptions in the 58-55 overtime loss to Omaha.
Kickoff for the Storm at Lexington game is slated for 6:30 PM central standard time (7:30 PM eastern standard time). Fans can listen to the game on KELO AM 1320 with the voice of the Storm, Rich Roste. Pre-game will start at 6:15 PM on KELO AM. The next home game for the Storm is Saturday, June 25 when the Sioux City Bandits enter the Storm Shelter for the second time this season. Kickoff at the Arena is slated for 7:05 PM.
