
FireAnts Host Red Dogs Friday in Tupelo

TUPELO, MS--The Tupelo FireAnts (2-8) take on the Black Hills Red Dogs (1-10) tomorrow, Friday, June 10th at the BancorpSouth Center in Tupelo starting at 7:30pm.
Tomorrow's game is the first meeting between the FireAnts and Red Dogs in indoor football history. A win for Tupelo tomorrow could improve the FireAnts to within half a game of third place in the UIF South Division with the Tennessee Valley Raptors (3-6). A win for Black Hills could improve the Red Dogs to within three and a half games of the third-place Omaha Beef (5-5) in the UIF West Division.
On the field, the âAnts offense is led by quarterback Tommy Miller, who is sixth in UIF in passing yards (1,320), and has completed 149 of 269 passes with 16 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. His main targets are wideouts Laquonne Holden (31 receptions â 201 yards â 2 touchdowns), Chris Edwards (18-106-3), and Adrian Cockfield (16-145-2). The running game is led by Tommy Miller (27 carries â 118 yards â 3 touchdowns), as well as Chris Edwards (23-25-1) and Buster Browne (20-66-1). The defensive line includes Patrick Craig, Mancell Elam, and Kevin Redd, who have combined for 43 tackles and 3 sacks. Tupelo's linebackers are Ricky Franklin (57.5 tackles â 2 interceptions) and John Mannino (16.5 tackles). The defensive backs are led by Terrell Sutton, Tyson Patterson, and Michael Gholar, who have combined for 86 tackles and 13 interceptions. The special teams unit features kicker John Michael Marlin, who has connected on 8 of 34 field goal attempts this season, and kick-returner Adrian Cockfield, who has returned 15 kicks for 219 yards this season.
Off the field, Friday's game will feature several baby animals from the Tupelo Buffalo Park in the main concourse. Fans will be able to interact with a baby wallaby, porcupine, goat, as well as calves, chickens, a baby gator and a baby horse.
