Tampa Bay Storm News Release

TAMPA BAY - The five-time World Champion Tampa Bay Storm defeated the Orlando Predators, 28-17, on Friday night in what was a preview of the War on I-4 season opener on March 2.

The Storm looked sharp in their first drive. Rodney Filer got the Storm on the board with a one-yard touchdown run that was set-up by a 19-yard pass from John Kaleo to Demetris Bendross.

Orlando responded as they scored 17 un-answered points to go up 17-7. The tide turned as Stoney Case tossed a 30-yard bomb to Bendross who hauled in the pass with one hand in the corner of the end zone to cut the lead to four. Bill Gramatica added the extra point to make the score 17-14 Predators.

B.J Symons replaced Case and hooked up with former Texas Tech Red Raiders teammate Mickey Peters for 39-yard touchdown reception.

A Storm fumble recovery set up a one-yard touchdown run by Symons. Former Florida Gator Matt Leach entered the game and drilled the extra point to put the Storm up 28-17.

"We won the scrimmage but it doesn't mean much," said General Manager and Head Coach Tim Marcum. "I did not think that we played to our capabilities. We will have to take a look at the film in the morning and see who made plays and who did not."

The 2007 Storm Season, presented by Champs Sports, Where Sport Lives, will open March 2 with the War on I-4 against the Orlando Predators on Bill Currie Ford Field at the St. Pete Times Forum. Former Storm quarterback Shane Stafford returns for his first game against the Storm. For tickets call 813.301.6780 or visit www.tampabaystorm.com.
