Sioux Falls Storm News Release

The Sioux Falls Storm (4-7) are set to host the Billings Outlaws (10-1) inside the Storm Shelter at the Sioux Falls Arena Saturday, June 12. Kickoff is set for 7:05 pm CST in a game that is billed as Red Carpet Night.

The Outlaws have gotten the better of the Storm the previous two times they have played this season. Each time the Storm falling to the Outlaws in Billings, however, now the Storm get a shot at the Outlaws in the thunderous ?Storm Shelter, a place where the Storm have not lost in the past 35 games. The Storm, led by Quarterback Terrance Bryant have beaten the Outlaws in 13 of 21 meetings in the history of the rivalry, and have only lost once to Billings in Sioux Falls.

The Outlaws defeated the Storm last weekend in Billings by a score of 70-35. The loss was one of the most lopsided defeats in Storm Franchise history due in large part to key injuries suffered by the Storm in the first half. Leif Murphy went down with a shoulder injury, James Terry, along with Outlaws LB Kelly Rouse, were ejected from the game for being involved in a skirmish following a Storm fumble, and Andre Fields suffered a crippling season ending broken leg all in the second quarter. Outlaws QB Chris Dixon had an incredible game and was named the IFLs Vidswap.com Player of the Week as he completed 24 of 28 passes for 185 yards and seven touchdowns; he also ran for 52 yards and another score.

Bryant brings the Storm and its fourth ranked offense into this crucial game as the Storm is in the thick of a playoff race. Sioux Falls is scoring 52.5 points per game thanks in large part to RB Sean Treasure who has 23 touchdowns and is averaging 66.4 yards per contest, which leads the league. Bryant has thrown touchdowns to six different receivers this season. James Terry leads the receiving core with 61 catches for 646 yards and 11 touchdowns.

The Storm will have a tough task in keeping up with Billings and their number one ranked offense which is scoring over 60 points a game and gaining over 280 yards a contest. They are led by Dixon who has thrown for 57 touchdowns. Outlaws WR James Walton leads the team with 52 receptions for 656 yards and has caught 27 of those Dixon touchdowns. Charles Anthony and Timothy Brown round out a stout Outlaws rushing attack, one that is made significantly better with the running threat of Dixon.

The Storm Defense will need to get to Dixon and apply pressure the whole game in order to control him, something that the Storm have been successful at all year. Sioux Falls defense is fifth in the league and only giving up a little over 185 yards a game. They have 30 sacks on the season, which only trails Billings who has 33 thanks in large part to DL Michael Landry whose 12 sacks lead the league.

Sioux Falls is home again next weekend as Fairbanks invades the Storm Shelter in the first meeting between franchises. Kickoff is set for 7:05 pm at the Sioux Falls Arena in a game billed as Hawaiian Night. A limited number of tickets still remain and may be purchased at the Arena Box Office or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
