(Summerside, PE) The Summerside STORM announced today they have placed Antonio Ballard on the teams Injured Reserve list with what is termed a lower body injury sustained this past Saturday in a game against the Montreal Jazz.
The STORM also announced the signing of Shamari Spears. Spears, a 6'6" power forward from Salisbury, North Carolina. Spears played for the London Lightning last season and was a key component to their NBL Championship team by scoring 13 points per game during the regular season and scoring 18 points in the deciding game against the Halifax Rainmen in the Championship final. He played his college basketball at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he earned 3rd team all-conference honors in his final year scoring 17 points per game. Spears played professionally this year in Chile, South America, until his team's season ended.
Meanwhile, STORM Play-Off Ticket Packages continue to be on sale to all STORM Fans. STORM Season Ticket Holders have until March 1st, 2013 to purchase their playoff tickets and reserve the seats they currently have. After March 1st all seats will go on sale to the general public.
STORM Play-Off Packages will be sold through the Box Office at Credit Union Place in Summerside and may be purchased for a full playoff package of 6 games or round by round packages of 3 games each.
STORM Fans who purchased tickets for games that are not played may put that toward season tickets for next season or receive a refund.
The playoff format features the winners of the Atlantic and Central Divisions getting a bye into the semi-finals of the playoffs. Teams who finished in 4th and 5th place overall in the standings will play a best of 3 series with the winner going to the semi-finals. Both the semi-finals and the finals will be a best of 5 series with the team having the best regular season record having home court advantage in the series.
