Sioux Falls Storm News Release
The Sioux Falls Storm traveled for their first away game of the season in Bismarck, ND. The Storm held the lead since the start of the game and finished with a 38-36 win against the Bismarck Bucks on March 19.
In the first two minutes of the game, Tasleem Wilson threw a 42-yard pass to Carlos Thompson for a touchdown, Sawyer Petre completed the kick, Storm lead 7-0. The Storm extended their lead to 14 with a 35-yard pass from Tasleem Wilson to Tim Keith. Bismarck got on the board with a two-yard run from Tahj Tolbert. Bismarck missed their extra point kick, closing the half to 14-6.
To start the second half, the Storm add to their lead with a 32-yard field goal by Sawyer Petre, bringing the score to 17-6. Bismarck's Tahj Tolbert threw a one-yard pass to John Brunner to close the gap. The Storm won't back down yet, as Nate Chavious has a 47-yard run to the end zone, putting the Storm up 24-13. Not stopping there, Tasleem Wilson threw another long ball to Carlos Thompson for 39 yards, extending the lead 31-13. With just under three minutes of play left, Jayru Campbell of Bismarck runs the ball 16-yards for a touchdown, bringing the score to 31-21. Yet again, Tasleem Wilson threw a 28-yard pass to Aaron Dilworth with 24 seconds on the clock for a touchdown, Storm lead 38-21. Bucks Jayru Campbell threw a seven-yard pass to Edgar Allen Poe to cut the lead to 38-28. With the ball back in Bismarck's hands, Jayru Campbell rushed the ball into the end zone for a touchdown and converted a two-point conversion to close the gap against the Storm to 38-36. Bismarck went for the win with a 30-yard field goal attempt but was blocked by Storm's defensive back, Ta'Corian Darden, who sealed the win for Sioux Falls with a final score of 38-36.
Quarterback Tasleem Wilson completed eight passes for 187 yards for four touchdowns. Running back Nate Chavious had one rushing touchdown. Wide receiver Carlos Thompson led the way with 81 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Wide receivers Tim Keith and Aaron Dilworth both had one receiving touchdown. Defensive back Famus Hasty led the defensive team with four tackles and broke up one pass. Sawyer Petre scored a 32-yard field goal.
The Storm (2-0) return home on Monday, March 28 against the Iowa Barnstormers (0-1). Kickoff is set for 7:05 PM at the Denny Sanford Premier Center.
