Storm Host Fairbanks: Need Help to Extend Playoff Hopes
June 19, 2009 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Sioux Falls Storm News Release
The Sioux Falls Storm Host the Fairbanks Grizzlies inside the Thunderous ?Storm Shelter? in the Sioux Falls Arena Saturday, June 20. Kickoff is set for 7:05 pm CST. The meeting is the first ever between the two teams, and crucial as the Storm are two games back of Wichita and the last playoff spot in the Central Division with only two games to play.
The Storm will need help from The River City Rage who travels to Wichita Saturday to play the Wild. The teams have split their games so far this season. Wichita has a chance to clinch a playoff spot and end the Storm?s hopes of a post season bid if they can beat the Rage this weekend.
The Grizzlies (5-6) bring a solid passing attack into Sioux Falls, which is coming off of a two-game losing streak, something that is somewhat of a rare occurrence for the four-time defending UIF Champions. Fairbanks and its second ranked passing offense, is led by QB Justin Rummell who is second in the league averaging over 200 yards through the air per contest.
Rummell?s favorite target is WR Lonnie Sanders who scores almost as much as the IFL?s second leading rusher, Storm RB Sean Treasure. The Storm (4-8) and it?s big Offensive Line anchored by the ?Bash Brothers,? Isaac Snell and Zac Tubbs, will try and expose Fairbanks rushing defense that gives up over 90 yards per game.
Storm QB Terrance Bryant and his talent-laden receiving core will look to score early and often in a game that has the makings of a high scoring affair. The Grizzlies and Storm are third and fourth respectively in total offense, each averaging over 250 yards a game.
Corey Johnsen and the Storm?s menacing defensive front looks to add to their 32 sacks, and create havoc for Rummell, against a Fairbanks Offensive Line that his given up 27 sacks already this season.
A limited number of tickets still remain for Saturday?s game and can be purchased at the Arena Box Office or online at www.ticketmaster.com. The Storm have a couple of weeks off after this weekend?s contest before they host the Sioux City Bandits at the Sioux Falls Arena in the final game of the season.
