Sioux Falls Storm News Release

The Sioux Falls Storm of United Indoor Football (UIF) is proud to announce the re-signing of defensive lineman Cory Johnsen and offensive lineman Vinnie Olson for the 2007 season. Johnsen and Olson will be entering their 2nd season with the Storm. Both players were recently in camp with Arena Football League Teams. Johnsen was with the Grand Rapids Rampage and Olson was with the Colorado Crush.

Johnsen played in 16 games during 2006 for the Storm. He compiled 27 tackles with 9 of those for loss. Johnsen also scored a touchdown after recovering a fumble in a game vs. Rock River last season. Johnsen, who was a three-year starter at St. Cloud State, had his best collegiate season in 2004. The Aberdeen, SD native had 33 tackles and 2.5 sacks as well as being named to the All-NCC Second Team during the 2004 campaign. Johnsen was hampered by a groin injury in 2005 and still managed 12 tackles and 2 sacks after missing 4 games as the Huskies went 8-3.

Olson started five games for the Storm in 2006 as he adjusted to the indoor game. The Rapid City, SD native finished his playing career at the University of Sioux Falls (USF) in 2004 where he led the Cougars to an undefeated regular season in 2004 and was named to the NAIA Division II All-American First Team. Olson was also named to the American Football Coaches Association All-American Team, which combines NAIA and NCAA Division II. During Olson's two years at USF, the Cougars went 23-2.

Training camp is already underway as the Storm prepares for its season opener at Rock River on Saturday, March 24. See a full schedule by logging on to www.siouxfallsstorm.com.
