Kansas City, MO (Saturday, April 2, 2005) – The Chicago Storm dropped a thrilling 6-5 overtime result to the Kansas City Comets tonight at Kemper Arena in Kansas City, MO. The Storm will now turn their attention to the St. Louis Steamers as they will face their rivals tomorrow, April 3 at the UIC Pavilion, starting at 6:00 p.m. The game will be televised live on Comcast SportsNet. "This was a tough loss for us," said Storm Head Coach and GM Frank Klopas. "Kansas City is a tough team and we knew they would come out and play hard tonight. We need to do a better job finishing off our opponents. Now we have to focus on St. Louis tomorrow to get ourselves back on track for the playoffs."

Kansas City's Jamar Beasley slipped past the Storm defense and slid a shot to the back post that got under Storm goalkeeper Danny Waltman. Kante was positioned at the back post and shot the ball into the open net to give the Comets the 6-5 win at 1:25 of overtime.

Kansas City scored the first goal of the game as Kante flicked a shot past Waltman at 6:22 of the first quarter. Chicago answered at 9:05 of the first when Nino DaSilva knocked in a pass from Fred DeGand to tie the game 1-1. The Storm then took their first lead of the game when midfielder Sandre Naumoski headed a shot at goal. Comets goalkeeper Chris Damico parried the shot with a diving save, but the rebound hit Naumoski in the leg and scooted into the back of the net for a 2-1 Storm lead at 1:41 of the second quarter.

Comets midfielder Miodrag Djerisilo countered at 10:49 of the second stanza to tie the game at 2-2. Kansas City then overtook the Storm for their second lead of the contest, when James Koehler blasted a bicycle kick shot from the top of the arch into the top right corner past a diving Waltman for a 3-2 Comets advantage. Kansas City took the lead into the half as the Storm looked to regroup for the second half.

The "Yellow and Black" came out strong in the third quarter and Awadalla Morad scored his first goal of two on the night at 7:12 of the period to tie the game 3-3. Morad then put the Storm on top 4-3 with another tally at 11:05 of the quarter. The Comets retaliated to tie the game again at 4-4 when defender Vlatko Andonovski blasted a freekick from the left side past a stunned Waltman at 5:33 of the fourth quarter.

The Comets took another lead with 1:09 left in the game as Jamar Beasley slotted a shootout attempt into the back of the net for a 5-4 advantage. Storm defender Denny Clanton tripped up Drew Perkins as he dribbled in alone on Waltman. The foul triggered a shootout attempt for the Comets. Midfielder Dino Delevski stepped up to take the attempt and he dribbled in on Waltman as the goalkeeper charged out to cut down the angle. Delevski then passed the ball to his right to Beasley and he calmly shot the ball into the open net.

The Storm battled back again, but this time with Novi as the sixth attacker on the field. Chicago attacked the Comets to tie the game and Mark Ughy knocked in a rebound to send the game to overtime with a 5-5 deadlock.
