"This was another tough loss for us," said Storm Head Coach Frank Klopas. "We need to be more disciplined throughout the field and play better defense. We did not take advantage of our scoring opportunities in the game either. We just have to stay focused on the game. Next week's game becomes even more important with the loss today."

The Storm got on the scoreboard first as Awadalla Morad fed a pass to Matthew Stewart, who was racing down the right wing. The El Paso, TX native flipped a shot past Phillips to put the Storm up 1-0 at 4:28 of the first quarter. St. Louis countered with a goal by Mariano Bollella at 6:06 of the first, tying the game 1-1. The Steamers broke the tie at the 11:27 mark after Daryl Doran connected with Shaun David, who rifled a shot past Storm goalkeeper Danny Waltman. The "Yellow and Black" answered right back less than a minute later to tie the game up 2-2 after Nino DaSilva found Andy Guastaferro on the far right wing. Wescott scored his first of the game just 21 seconds later to give the lead back to the Steamers 3-2.

Just 36 seconds into the second quarter, Storm midfielder Lazo Alavanja stole a pass in the Steamers defensive zone and blasted a shot past Phillips to tie the game 3-3. The tie stood for the remainder of the second quarter.

Steamers forward Cal Thomas deflected a shot past Waltman to give St. Louis the lead again, 4-3, at 3:01 of the third quarter. Chicago answered at the 7:53 mark when Nino DaSilva hit a scissors kick that bounced past Phillips and into the back of the net to tie the game 4-4.

St. Louis regained the lead and did not look back when Jeff DiMaria knocked in a goal for the 5-4 advantage at 12:39 of the third stanza. Wescott registered the game-winner at the 3:00 mark of the fourth quarter. Matt Caution then iced the game for St. Louis at 7:25 of the fourth quarter when he knocked in a rebound of a Jeff DiMaria shot. The initial shot was parried away by a diving Waltman, but the ball hit Caution and bounced into the net for the 7-4 Steamers lead. Chicago added a consolation goal with the sixth attacker on the field when Morad scored his 15th goal of the season.
