Halifax, (NS) - Island Storm defeated the Halifax Hurricanes Basketball Club 108-106 in NBL Canada action March 4th at the Eastlink Centre. The Hurricanes now have a record of 14-7, tied for first in the Atlantic Division.
Storm led the Hurricanes at the end of the first quarter 23-16. In the second quarter the Storm outscored the Hurricanes 26-21, and trailed 49-37 at halftime. In the third quarter the Storm outscored the Hurricanes 35-24. The Hurricanes outscored the Storm 45-24 in the final quarter but the Storm prevailed; The final score of the game was 108-106.
Guard, Justin Johnson led all scorers with 28 points. Guard, Shane Gibson scored 26 points for the Hurricanes. Center, Kyle Hunt scored 16 points.
Forward, Brent Jennings led the Storm with 22 points. Guard, Rashad Whack added 16 points. Forward, Tirrell Baines scored 14 points. Center, Chad Posthumus scored 14 points. Guard, Terry Thomas scored 12 points. Guard, Malcom Grant scored 12 points in the win.
The Hurricanes will return home against the Moncton Miracles on March 9th.
